We Are Houston’s Premier Landscape Installation & Design Company.

Since 1987, Exterior Worlds has specialized in high-end landscape design, development, implementation and landscape maintenance. By working hard to improve our clients’ quality of life, we have become recognized as one of Houston’s finest and most creative landscape firms. Our firm focuses on a variety of design elements and construction techniques, all of which are geared to enhance the beauty of the property while inspiring thought, creativity and enjoyment. Our unique and memorable landscapes can be seen in Memorial Villages, River Oaks, Piney Point Village, Bunker Hill Village, Hunter Creek Village, Hedwig Village, West University, Tanglewood and Bellaire.

In the initial consultation, the Exterior Worlds’ staff works diligently to help clients define the scope of work, phasing, overall project coordination and budget. The next phase may include conceptual design, design development and final cost proposals. In this phase and during the installation, Exterior Worlds serves as general contractor and may subcontract related installation work such as drainage systems, outdoor water fountains and luxury swimming pools, outdoor kitchens or landscape lighting. Finally, Exterior World’s landscape services provide ongoing maintenance and yard care. Refer to our archive of articles for more details on landscape maintenance services, plantings, tree preservation and related landscape topics.

As professionals in our field, we believe good relationships with our clients are as important as the services we deliver. Integrity, in our client relations and in our corporate services, is one of the cornerstones of our firm.

Robert Irwin, the landscape architect of the Getty Center in Los Angeles, said: “…maybe the world is an art form [and] the gardening of our universe” reveals our participation in that work of art.

Garden Walkway

Adding a garden walkway to the landscape immediately adds curb appeal to the entire property. Paths and walkways are an integral part of formal garden design. Less formal types of gardens also rely upon pathways to bring guests into their interiors or to lead them alongside their borders. Without these carefully planned and constructed transit spaces, we would not be able to experience a garden from the perspective of its

Garden Design

A formal garden is distinguished by order, neatness, geometry, and symmetry. This style of garden design is one of the oldest in the world, tracing its origins back to the beginnings of recorded history. This is because formality is a common and honored tradition in all Western, Middle Eastern, and Eastern Cultures. Everyone has heard of the gardens of the Greeks and Romans, and of how the Hanging Gardens of

Contemporary Garden

A contemporary garden is distinguished by its emphasis of hardscape and geometry over softscape. Vegetation is minimized in favor of a deliberately Mentalist view of the world. Gravel, stone, sculpture, water, and art take the place of vivacious colors, and mind-oriented design take precedence over passion. All of this is done to establish the sense the world has now become a place where Man dominates and controls his environment through

Garden Design

Garden design should always be done to scale by a professional with a sound understanding of geometry and experience in hardscape plans. This is because so many plantings are installed around horizontal surfaces areas such as patios and pools, and because vegetation in general seems to go hand in hand with the decorative aspects of custom fountains and outdoor buildings. A good working knowledge of plant science helps as well—

Waterfall Design

Waterfall design is commonly used to add a very natural look to a landscape. In some situations, it can also be approached from a more abstract perspective to create a unique water feature with a more contemporary look and feel to it. Location and placement are the keys to success in both endeavors. Adding a waterfall anywhere in the yard requires the design skills of a trained professional landscaper who

Modern Fountain Design

Modern fountains are stark and minimalist in expression. A few basic geometric shapes constitute the aesthetic foundation of the entire style. Each shape can then be altered into an abstract element with its own unique personality. It can also be combined with other shapes to create an amalgam symbol representative of abstract thought processes. Such designs go a long way toward establishing zones of interest in a large contemporary outdoor

Contemporary Fountains Case Stud

Contemporary fountains are built around a strict adherence to simple geometry. The elegant curves and ornate surfaces of Classical design give way to the rudimentary shapes that function as the building blocks of form. The most prevalent shapes are circles, rectangles, and their derivative elements, which in turn are customized to add drama, affect, and dimension through vertical impact. Circular and semicircular fountain designs are obviously gentler on the eyes
